Hi! Well I have finally updated this thing to a bearable extent. Have a look at the Life in melbourne 2008 gallery for all the latest. Things are pretty quiet, no big plans for the next while. Moving house has taken it out of us i think.

Life in Melbourne 2008 : 2008 has started incredibly well and living in melbourne certainly helps! So far this year has seen me back in touch with many old friends, enjoying becoming fit again, rediscovering my creative side through art classes, and just generally enjoying life. Oh, and we moved out of our city apartment and into a house in the inner suburbs, with a yard and more space! Loving it!

Melbourne Life 2007 : Looking back on 2007, it was a quiet and uneventful year when compared to most other years I have had! Certainly it took a fair bit of adjustment to have to stay in one place and not take any holidays and just to begin to be content in life in one place together. For Shane it was a year of discovery - making a permanent home in a new country is not an easy thing to do. We had a few visits from good friends, we went on a few little daytrips together and we became the proud parents of a pair of pet rabbits (the grey one is mine and the white one is Shane's).

Travels in Indochina New Year 06/07 : After wrapping up work in Vietnam, it was great to head off into Cambodia and Laos again, and it was great after spending so much time spent in Vietnam to finally get to the north of the country. After Christmas in Cambodia, we flew to Pakse in Southern Laos, then went overland up to meet friends in Vang Vieng for New Year, then Luang Prabang, Phonsavan, and over the Vietnamese border to Vinh. After that, it was north to Hanoi and Halong Bay before heading to Hoi An and back to Ho Chi Minh City. All in all a great month!!!

Norway - August 2006 : We went on a fantastic (but highly expensive!!!) 3 days trip to Bergen in Norway at the start of August. We managed to escape a cold weekend in Berlin to the warmth of Norway, for a spot of hiking, a few cruises around the fjords and for the enjoyment of my first ever $20 hamburger.... (yes thats right)

Germany - April to October 2006 : 6 months in Germany. How lucky was I? Unfortunately not so lucky with Shane's visa crap, so we left! It was hard to do, especially as we were really looking forward to a 'real' winter (yes call us crazy)!!! But all that is now worlds behind us!

Budapest and Prague - May 2006 : From 24 to 27 May I visited Eva in Budapest for a couple of days doing bugger all, walking around the city and eating yummy turkish food. Then, on the way back to Berlin I paid a short visit to Prague. I had been there 10 years ago and remembered it being full of tourists but really beautiful. Well, at 7am Prague lives up to the hype. I had the bridge to myself, I wandered the cobbled streets alone without the hordes, and finally understood what it is about Prague that makes the tourists flock there (not that many of those tourists see the Prague I had to myself that morning!). But, by 11.30 I was on the train home to Berlin, having already gotten sick of American accented old women shouting to one another, "Oh my lord isnt it beautiful."

Australia and New Zealand - March 2006 : Photos from a very short visit back to Australia in March 2006. It was fun catching up with some people and even actually good to visit Canberra after an 18 month absence! Then it was on to New Zealand for a 4 day drive and hike and spend too much money trip which was a lot of fun!

Thailand - February 2006 : Thailand.... Can I really say I have been there? Not really. I spent 3 days in Phuket, which is so rancidly destroyed by the hordes of tourists from everywhere all baking their leather skin to melting point and generally just full of a whole heap of beached whales... Beautiful scenery and some friendly people, but Ill give it a miss next time. And then shopping in Bangkok was great!

Russia - 2001/2002 : Those who know me know that my year in Russia in 2001 and then my return there fro 6 months in 2002 were probably the most life changing times for me- probably the time when I came into my own and learned a lot about myself through sticking it out and learning to live somewhere that was at once so inhospitable but at the same time a great adventure and full of amazing souls. Very little of that is shown in photos, but check these happy snaps out!
